Boxing

The theme song to ROCKY was playing in my head, sweat poured down my face and large boxing gloves were strapped onto my hand. I felt like NOTHING could stop me! The Y’s boxing class was killer- in multiple ways.

Not only did my arms feel the burn but my face had an amazing workout too.

I

COULD.

 NOT.

STOP.

SMILING.

I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and felt like an extra in a cheesy workout infomercial.

Jump squats, abs, planks, pretend jump roping, plus the “1, 2 ! 1, 2 ! Upper Cut! Hook!” made boxing the perfect workout.

I dragged my fiancé Frank along (With the promise that he could laugh at me all he wanted) To my surprise he wasn’t the only guy! – Totally silly of me to think it would be a classroom full of Lady ROCKYs.

Looks exhausted huh!

Looks exhausted huh!

During the warm up I looked over at him — he was so in to the drills! He didn’t have the bandwidth to focus on me-PHEW!!

Invigorating” is the one word I got out of him- as he worked to catch his breath during cool down.

Frank is also a post-grad athlete looking to shake up his boring gym routine and I think this class was a hook, line and sinker – or however the phrase goes.

Although there wasn’t sparring (the lie I told him to convince him to come) –we will be back again. This full body workout was one I could get use to. BOOM BOOM POW!

Until next time,

Megan
